Leotard Measurement Guide
Know exactly what fits. Whether you're selling or buying, accurate measurements make all the difference.
UTorso Girth (U) is the most important measurement
Torso girth determines whether a leotard will actually fit. Two leotards in the same 'size' can have very different torso lengths. Always check this measurement first — it's the single best predictor of fit.

For Sellers — How to Measure Your Leotard
Lay the leotard flat on a clean surface. Use a flexible tape measure for all measurements.
UTorso Girth (U)Most important
This is the most important measurement for leotard fit. With the leotard still flat, measure from the top of one shoulder, down the front through the crotch, and up the back to the same shoulder point. This gives you the full torso girth without needing to double.
TChest (T)
Lay the leotard front-side up. Measure straight across from underarm seam to underarm seam. Double this number to get the full chest measurement.
VWaist (V)
Measure across the narrowest part of the leotard's torso, typically just above where the body begins to flare out toward the hips. Double this number.
FHips (F)
Measure across the widest point of the leotard at the leg openings. Double this number.
MSleeve Length (M)
If the leotard has long sleeves, measure from the shoulder seam down to the end of the cuff.
PWrist (P)
Measure across the cuff opening at the end of the sleeve. Double this number.
For Buyers — How to Measure Your Gymnast
Have your gymnast stand relaxed in a fitted top or leotard. Use a flexible tape measure held snugly but not tight.
UTorso Girth (U)Most important
Starting from the top of one shoulder (where a strap would sit), bring the tape down the front of the body, through the legs, and up the back to the same shoulder point. The tape should sit snugly along the body without pulling.
TChest (T)
Wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, just under the arms. Keep the tape level all the way around.
VWaist (V)
Measure around the natural waistline — the narrowest part of the torso, usually just above the belly button.
FHips (F)
Measure around the fullest part of the hips and bottom.
MSleeve Length (M)
With your child's arm slightly bent, measure from the shoulder point (the bony bump at the top of the arm) down to the wrist bone.
PWrist (P)
Measure around the wrist at the narrowest point, just below the wrist bone.
